I'm thinking about meeting the grandparents in Arizona with the kids over spring break (mid-April). Does anyone know of some fun places to stay with kids in the Tuscon or Phoenix area? Also, what are the nice state (or national) parks?

It really depends what you want to do. There are a couple spots around Scottsdale that are great for families and provide good access to the outdoor activities. Rancho de Caballeros is family-oriented country ranch resort an hour west of Phoenix. It has suites with spa tubs and living areas with fireplaces. An outdoor pool, spa, tennis, and guided horseback rides. They also offer a great kids program.

If you want to be closer to the urban setting, you might want to try the Phoenician which is by Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale. It has all the high end resort amenities, is modern (vs desert kitsch) and has supervised children’s programs.

have fun!
Kimmy's hotel recommendations are very good. You may want to set a reminder to get your tickets on Southwest Airlines as soon as they start taking recommendations for April. Currently they are taking reservations up to the first week of March and the roundtrip fare for that week is only $200 round trip (web only fares). Those web fares tend to sell out quickly.
