Hi there:Does anyone have hotel favorites in Calistoga? We are hoping to take the kids, and it looks like Calistoga Ranch does not allow children. Lush greenery and view are ideal, and in general we…Continue

Luxury with kids in Napa or Sonoma?

We tried La Playa in Carmel, and they are completely booked. And L'Auberge Carmel is adults-only apparently. So now we're exploring in the other direction. Has anyone stayed someplace memorable in…Continue

If you want more adventure you could try Safari West. This more "rustic" but the kids will like sleeping among the animals. They have tents (but with hot showers and comfy beds) but they also have a two bedroom cottage. Even if you…

Hi Amanda, I agree with CJ that Meadow Wood and Solage are good options. I've heard of a place called cottage grove inn and it sounded like you could get a cute stand-alone cottage close to town. Haven't stayed there but it might be worth…

Hi Amanda, Have you tried Solage? I stayed there and it was both kid friendly and had a great restaurant. Another option might be Meadow Wood which does have cottages which are pretty family friendly. Let me know where you decide to go...always…

Calistoga for a fall weekend?

Hi there:Does anyone have hotel favorites in Calistoga? We are hoping to take the kids, and it looks like Calistoga Ranch does not allow children. Lush greenery and view are ideal, and in general we don't like to impose on B&Bs with kids. Many thanks!See More

This may not be what you were thinking about but I have to throw my hat in the ring for Aspen. The snow is amazing. Great instructors. Really fun apres ski. Wonderful restaurants. And after the New Year, you will have less crowds.

It came down to a choice between Highlands Inn and Bernardus Lodge. We went with Bernardus Lodge solely based on how lovely and helpful the staff seems. I will keep everyone posted on how it went after the weekend.

One more thought....you might try the Clement InterContinental in Monterey to see if they have any last minute openings. Challenge is that they don't have a lot of rooms with two queen beds but it is a nice hotel with some family-friendly…

Labor Day weekend is tough... The Fairmont Mission Inn in Sonoma is nice but likely sold out. There is a place that I've never been to but heard is nice called Beltane Ranch and I they have a two bedroom cottage:…

You may want to try Solage in Calistoga. Their rates may be high as well (labor day is high season in Napa). Meadowwood would be another option. There are also some house rentals in Healdburg that might be available for a…

Luxury with kids in Napa or Sonoma?

We tried La Playa in Carmel, and they are completely booked. And L'Auberge Carmel is adults-only apparently. So now we're exploring in the other direction. Has anyone stayed someplace memorable in Napa or Sonoma? We've heard Healdsburg is great but are open. I should add that we've already called Hotel Healdsburg and the cheapest possibility is $700 a night. Ouch! Thanks!See More
